I am trying to learn more about blogging.  Please be patience and I will try to make things more interesting.
I smoked a turkey for thanksgiving and I think it turned out very well. Here is how I did it:
1.      Rub turkey with butter, salt and pepper.
2.      Put in smoker (I like electric smokers)
3.      Put some wood chips that have been soaked in water over night in the smoker.
4.      Smoke for approx. 12hr.
5.      It will be moist and tender.
Have fun!

BBQ

I'm cooking today! I've got a pork roast on my smoker and have been mixing up some special sauce. It is a beautyful fall day and I just had to get out side. How about send me some techniques you have for BBQ? I'll let you know how mine turns out.

Hunting Island State Park

We had a wonderful nine days at the beach. The weather was perfect warm days and cool nights.

We met some great new friends and had plenty of good food. We sat around the camp fire and laughted at our stories about camping trips we had taken. Also had SMORGS one night quite a treat.

Here are a couple of photos from the trip.

More Photos on our Web Site www.southerntraveladventures.com

I would highly recommend Hunting Island State Park for a trip to the beach. I sometimes think what a shame it is that there are people that will never have the oppurnity to go camping at such a wonderful place. So as always I say "Spend some quality time Go Camping"

Also I would be in error if I didn't say that Brie & Ty enjoyed the beach very much.

Family Photos

My daughter, who is a prof. photographer, came over to the house this afternoon and did family photos of Ginger and I and our current "children". We now have current photos of Ginger and I, and of Brie & Ty. we have become quite a camping family.

1St Travel Trailer

Well I've got a story to tell.  My wife and i are avid campers and have been camping for almost 50 years. We started with a tent. And a small one at that. Now as you would guess after a few years along comes two children - tent is to small so we bought a pop up camper, not much room but more than the tent. Well that worked for a lot of years. Children got older and out of school then marriage sold pop up.
Fast forward to about 5 years ago.  Ginger says lets' start camping again.  Ok. So we start collecting camping gear again.  Bought a tent needed a biger car to haul everything in.  Now we are ready to go, first time to south GA. to Okeff you know that big swamp down there. We had a great time, but found it was harder to get up in the morning after sleeping on the ground. Now we moved to a bigger tent.  Plenty big for one of thoes double stack air mattresses.  Now we are moving on up!  No back ach in the morning, but now we can carry a TV more stuff.  We are having a great time I'm fly fishing and relaxing and enjoying life.  Now it's this year 2011 we are a lot older.  In August we decided to go to the mountains in NC.  Wonderful trip, but realized setting up and taking down a big tent is work and tireing. So on the way home we stopped by Camping World in Columbia, SC just to look--- Now we have a real travel trailer. This is the way to go.  Easy to set up comfortable and now Ginger and I are having fun traveling to different camp grounds and plan a 7 day trip in Oct. to Hunting Island.  Keep an eye out for more!  and check out the photo of our travel trailer.
